What IT Staff Needs to Know About EQUIP

Your organization has high standards for network and data security. IT Professionals can be confident that EQUIP for Quality provides multiple levels of security and firewalls and is in compliance with all HIPAA and other regulations regarding data protection and resident confidentiality.

100% Web-Based -- No Plug-Ins

EQUIP for Quality is a 100% server-based Web application. Users need only a Web browser (Internet Explorer 6.0 and above recommended), a connection to the Internet and an authorized user name/password to use the application. No plug-ins or code are downloaded or installed on the user's Web browser.

Secure Connections, Encrypted Data

MDS data is transmitted over a secure connection to a secure server that is accessible only to EQuIP clients. Facilities will have access only to their own facility data (or to corporate reports if they are a corporate client).

Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is used to encrypt and protect all confidential data. SSL technology creates secure channels of communication. These channels have three basic properties to ensure your information and reports are revealed only to you and those at your facility/corporation having a valid user ID and password:

  1. The communication channel is private. All messages are encrypted using 128-bit strength encryption key.
  2. All communication is authenticated. You will have the confidence of knowing exactly who is submitting MDS data and accessing your QM/QI reports
  3. The communication channel is reliable. SSL will not initiate a data transfer until a secure, reliable connection is established

You will know your connection and data transfer is secure by viewing the "golden lock" icon usually located in the bottom right of your Web browser window. The address of the Web site will automatically change to reflect a secure channel of communication. The address changes from http:// to https://, with the 's' representing a secure channel.

You will also be able to double-click on the Entrust logo to verify and view all information regarding the security of the EQUIP for Quality Web site and application.
